Full Itinerary*

Sun June 6 - Fly overnight from Nashville with the group or from your home city with overnight service including dinner and a light breakfast.

Mon June 7 -  This morning you will land in Dublin.  You will meet our driver/guide and board our luxury bus.  We will take a panoramic tour of the city and make a few stops to see some iconic sites such as Christchurch Cathedral and Trinity College Library to see the ancient Book of Kells.  This afternoon we will check into Cabra Castle Hotel, built in 1760 and one of Ireland’s most charming destination hotels.  We will enjoy a welcome dinner and settle into our royal rooms for the next 3 nights.  You will have time this evening to explore the castle and surrounding grounds and meet the Irish wolf hounds who live there.

Tue June 8 - After a hearty Irish breakfast, which you will enjoy every morning of the tour, we will head to the north of Ireland up to the legendary Giant’s Causeway, a spectacular natural rock formation consisting of roughly 40,000 interlocking basalt columns that descend like steps into the Atlantic Ocean. Next we will visit Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland where the Titanic was built.  Immerse yourself in the culture of the day and the grandeur of the “ship of dreams” at the Titanic Experience, Belfast’s most popular tourist attraction.  You will have some time to explore the city and get dinner on your own before we head back to the castle.

Wed June 9 - Our first stop today will be the imposing Trim Castle, the largest most impressive Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland.  For those who love Hollywood trivia, Trim Castle was a major filming site for the Mel Gibson movie, Braveheart.  Next we will learn about more recent Irish history with a visit to the General Post Office known as the GPO and Kilmainham Jail, two of Dublin’s most profoundly significant historical sites.  Together, they represent the absolute epicenter of Ireland's 20th-century struggle for independence from British rule, tracking the explosive events of the 1916 Easter Rising from its chaotic beginning to its tragic aftermath.  You will have some free time to browse the boutique shops on Grafton Street or enjoy a walk in St. Stephen’s Green.  You can choose to get dinner on your own in Dublin or back at the castle this evening.

Thur June 10 - Ready to be immersed in music?  Today we will drive through the country side to the west coast of Ireland known as The Wild Atlantic Way to the lovely town of Westport.  You will have time to explore the town while. This evening we will enjoy a concert at the Town Hall Theatre.  For the diehard music fans or those who just enjoy chatting with the locals over a pint of Guinness, you may want to check out the pubs in town which will all have music sessions into the wee hours of the morning.

Fri June 11 - Enjoy a leisurely morning after last night’s craic!  Today we will take a trip to a working farm where you will observe a demonstration of a local farmer working the sheep with his dogs at the Glen Keen Farm.  Learn about cutting turf and how they prepare it to heat the Irish homes.  Our host will prepare homemade Irish scones and tea or coffee for us as we listen to some traditional Irish music.  Of course, you may want to stay in Westport as their will be music all day long and into the evening at venues all across town.

Sat June 12 - Again, there will be no pressure to rise early after the previous night’s music sessions.  Today we will take an optional trip to the vibrant seaside town of Galway where you may roam the colorful streets, get some fish and chips, shop for a claddagh ring or the perfect Irish gift.  We will be back to Westport to join in the festival activities this evening.

Sun June 13 - This morning there is a gospel sing at a local church.  You may join the optional trip to Croagh Patrick this afternoon, the famed mountain where St. Patrick fasted and prayed for 40 days and allegedly drove the snakes from Ireland.  We will stop at the Famine Memorial a hauntingly beautiful open air bronze statue depicting the coffin ships that passengers boarded to escape the Great Famine.  Tonight is the last night of the festival so be sure to catch the many musicians in the pubs, hotels and venues around town.  Your visit to Westport would not be complete without a stop at Matt Molloy’s Bar, one of Ireland’s most famous pubs owned by the legendary, grammy-winning flute player of The Chieftains.

Mon June 14 - We will take a leisurely morning and late check out of our hotel to head back to Dublin today through the heartland of Ireland.  We will check into our lovely 5 star hotel and have a relaxing afternoon before our farewell dinner where we can reflect on the wonderful memories and warm hospitality of the Irish people.

Tues June 15 - Today we will fly home from Dublin Airport.  We will arrive 3 hours before our flight to have time to shop and go through U.S. Preclearance so we will arrive back in Nashville as a domestic flight - no customs when you land!
