Mon Sept 6

For those who were on the Ireland tour, they will fly from Shannon Airport for a very short flight to Edinburgh, Scotland.  Those joining us for Scotland only will fly directly from their home city.  We will land in the evening and head directly from the airport to the ancient town of Stirling.  We will check into our hotel in the shadow of the William Wallace Monument and the imposing Stirling Castle for our welcome dinner with time afterwards to wander about this charming city which is  known at the Gateway to the Highlands. Tue Sept 7

Pack your bags and load the bus as we will venture into the highlands of

Scotland today!  Before we leave town we will explore the 16th century Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s grandest fortresses.  We will stop at the William Wallace Monument and give you time to hike up if you desire (blue face paint not provided ;-).  Next, our journey will take us up through Glen Coe, a breathtaking route that is a must-see for every visitor to Scotland.  We will arrive this evening in Inverness known as the capital of the highlands.  We will check into our historic hotel right on the River Ness.  Your evening will be free to explore and get dinner on your own at our hotel restaurant or one of the many pubs or restaurants in town.  We will stay in Inverness for the next 3 nights. (B)

Wed Sept 8

After breakfast we will head over to the battlefield of Culloden where you will be able to immerse yourself in the history of this pivotal battle of the Jacobite rebellion.  Our guide will paint the picture and give us the setting and strategy of this bloody battle and help us understand why it

was so significant.  You will have the afternoon to yourselves while John gets ready for a show tonight. (B)

Thur Sept 9

Today is the day!!  The one thing everyone must do when in Scotland - look for the Loch Ness Monster!  We will take a scenic boat ride on the beautiful Loch Ness disembarking at the ruins of Urquhart Castle.  Our guide will tell us stories of Nessie herself and of the castle that once stood on the shores of this famous lake.  We will spend the day immersed in Loch Ness culture and, who knows, maybe you will get a glimpse of the creature yourself!  We will have a group dinner after our adventures and take a stroll along the River Ness. (B, D)

Fri Sept 10

Pack your bags and load up for today we will journey to the grand capital of Scotland - Edinburgh!  Along the way we will make some stops, see some highland coos (cows) and visit the only castle in the UK with its own standing army.  This evening we will arrive and check into our city center hotel just a block off the Royal Mile.  You’ll have the evening to explore and shop in this magnificent city!  This will be our home for our final 3 nights in Scotland. (B)

Sat Sept 11

Today we will have guides throughout the day as we take a walking tour of the capital city.  We will go down into Mary King’s Close and understand how people lived during the time of the plague and who survived and why.  We will explore the home of the Reformer John Knox  magnificent St. Giles’ Cathedral where he preached and much more.  We will give you time to wander through the museums and art gallery and even climb the Scot Monument for a bird’s-eye view of the city. (B)

Sun Sept 12

For our final day in Scotland, we will visit the crowning jewels of the city - Holyroodhouse Palace and Edinburgh Castle where you will be able to see the actual crown jewels of Scotland.  Immerse yourself in the world of young Mary Queen of Scots.  Walk in the footsteps of royalty both past and present.  John will perform his final concert tonight after our farewell dinner - a fitting end to our incredible journey through Ireland and Scotland!  (B, D)
