June 5 - Depart Cleveland for overnight flights, with dinner and light breakfast service.  Or book your own flight from your home city and we’ll meet you at Dublin Airport.  Try to get some sleep!

June 6 - Arrive in Dublin early this morning and board our bus and meet our driver/guide. We will enjoy a panoramic Dublin tour to see Christchurch Cathedral, the General Post Office - scene of the Easter Uprising, St. Stephen’s Green, and much more, ending up at Ireland’s top attraction, the Guinness Storehouse, for on-your-own lunch and tour topped by an included pint at the Gravity Bar with sweeping views of Dublin and the Dublin Mountains. We will check into our city-central hotel, the Leonardo Christchurch Hotel, across from the famous cathedral. You will have some free time to explore Dublin before our welcome dinner. We’ll have a short walking tour of the neighborhood this afternoon, including Temple Bar, Dublin’s entertainment district. (D)

June 7 - This morning you will experience your first full Irish breakfast of the trip - an experience, indeed,  after which we will head west to Athlone in the center of Ireland to board a replica Viking ship and cruise down the River Shannon to the 6th century monastic settlement of Clonmacnoise. Explore the ruins before we return to our coach and head toward our destination. Along the way, we will pop into a lovely little quilt shop to browse their fabrics and talk about quilting in Ireland. When we arrive in Westport we will check into our hotel in the heart of town for the next 3 nights. We’ll enjoy a group dinner, and then you can check out some free shows at the Westport Folk & Bluegrass Festival going on this week. (B,D)

June 8 - Today we will have a morning excursion to tour Westport House, ancestral home site of Grace O’Malley, the famous Pirate Queen, who built one of her castles here in the 1500s. Her dungeon still remains in this magnificent Palladian mansion which was built in 1730 by her descendants. We will stop at Croagh Patrick, the mountain that St. Patrick climbed and fasted on for 40 days and banished the snakes from Ireland.  Across the street is the National Famine Memorial. Then on to an Irish farm to see a sheepdog demonstration, enjoy some farm fare, music, turf-cutting and more. When we get back you can explore the town and hear more foot-stomping music after dinner. (B, D)

June 9 - This morning’s excursion will be a cruise in beautiful Clew Bay with its more than 300 islands and home to a seal colony with over 400 harbor seals.  We will cruise right up close to these wild animals and get a  good look at them in their natural habitat.  You will get free time this afternoon in Westport and a group dinner followed by more wonderful music this evening. (B, D)

June 10 - After breakfast we will pack our bags and head south along the Wild Atlantic Way through the moonscape of The Burren to the Cliffs of Moher.  At over 700 feet high and having been featured in films such as Harry Potter, Leap Year and the Princess Bride, the Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland’s most breathtaking scenes. Our next stop is Quin Abbey which is actually a friary (what is the difference?) founded by the McNamara Clan in the early 1400s where you will have time to explore and get lunch on your own at the Abbey Tavern across the street. Onward to Limerick where we’ll spend the next two nights at One Pery Square, overlooking the handsome, tree-lined People’s Park in Limerick’s historic Georgian Quarter. Tonight you will have free time for dinner and exploring Limerick City. (B)

June 11 -  Today we depart Limerick and visit Bunratty Castle, a 15th century castle - the most complete and authentic castle in Ireland where you will have time to explore the castle, the folk village and shop across the street at Blarney Woollen Mills and have your lunch at Durty Nellie’s Pub. We will also enjoy a quilt workshop at the Giddygoat Sewing Studio.   Having been in Limerick for 2 days now, you should be ready to participate in the world famous ETS limerick contest!  There once was a man from Nantucket.....

Enjoy dinner at your choice of Limerick restaurants or in our hotel restaurant. (B)

June 12 - Today will be a relaxing day as we do a panoramic tour of the breathtaking Dingle Peninsula with time for lunch and exploring the lovely seaside town of Dingle.  After our tour, we will arrive at our hotel early for the evening - the stunning Ballyseede Castle and enjoy a group dinner fit for a king or queen.  You will have the rest of the evening to relax in the castle bar and explore the lovely castle grounds. (B,D)

June 13 - After breakfast, we’ll make our way across the heart of Ireland and will stop in Cashel for lunch on your own and time to visit the Rock of Cashel, one of Ireland’s most incredible structures - the home of the great Irish High King Brian Boru - and the place of his coronation. We will continue to Kilkenny and tour Kilkenny Castle with its stunning architecture and art gallery. The Kilkenny shops across the street are a favorite place to shop for locally made products. We’ll go to the center of Kildare to visit St. Brigid’s Cathedral, the site where the saint herself founded a nunnery in the 5th century. Our final night will be in Killashee Hotel, an enchanting Victorian House where we will have our farewell dinner and enjoy the lovely hotel and grounds. (B,D)

June 14 - On our way to the airport for our afternoon flight, we will visit Newbridge Silverware, a favorite place to shop and visit the Icons of Style Museum featuring some of the most famous outfits in history worn by the likes of Princess Diana, the Beatles and Elvis. Guests may have tea and scones or an early lunch on your own in their gourmet cafe, or choose to eat at the airport after check-in. Our bus will arrive at Dublin Airport 3 hours ahead of your 3:30 flight to ensure plenty of time to check bags and get to your gate. Group air will have a nonstop flight with dinner, and will arrive in Cleveland at 6:50 pm.

Guests who book their own air departing earlier can have transportation arranged from our hotel.
